SRA 2007

So the event has been over... well... 2 weeks or more ago.
But life with work and school had me spinning around in circles, and FINALLY, heh, a chance to put on the VERY LITTLE photos I had of the event.
All in all, it was my first SRA, and it was exciting...
Though there were certain parts that could be missed, but I kept myself entertained chatting with JH... over SMSes. HUR HUR HUR.

Chitty chitty bang bang-ed, A*mei-ed and finally Stardust-ed.

I've always been a great fan of musicals and theatre productions, you name it, I've watched it.
Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Cabaret, Chang and Eng, and a great deal of local productions like Beauty World.
So you can imagine my excitement when I was invited to one of the bigger musical productions this year, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

A musical catered for children, you'd think that a big kid like me would have enjoyed it. Well... it wasn't too bad, but turns out I'm NOT that much of a kid. So during one of those bored-shitless moments, I snuggled up to R and whispered to him... "you know... we can do a Singapore version of the musical... Chitty Chitty Kennah Banged." We sniggered quietly, and went back to our original slouching positions for the rest of the show. That was the high of the night.

On the contrary, during A*Mei's concert, the 3 hours concert was high, high into the sky. We sang along (thanks to the provided lyrics on the screen), hummed along, grooved along, and finally danced along to her 'Power Voice'. Its been years since I first saw her in the National Stadium, and she is equally powerful, if not better. It was plain torture to drag my tired ass to work the very next day. The concert has drained all my energy for the rest of the week, but it was all worth it. :D

After I've recuperated from the concert, I went for a night of magical adventures catching Stardust in the movies. It was fabulously-fantastic! Glad to say that Claire Danes has not lost her touch since she was Juliet in... well... Romeo and Juliet. As usual, the gang and I came out of the theatre thinking that we have magically transformed into one of the characters, as we did when we saw X-Men, Spiderman, Hairspray etc...etc...

And I think we've found the perfect role for our budding actor, R, for his debut movie. Robert De Niro's "Captain Gay" in the movie. HAHA.

The zoo, a dinner and a very lazy dog

No no, its not a children's book. Just 3 chapters from last week's event.

Starting with the Zoo:

I think this is the first time I went to the Zoo, and I didn't see any animals.
But its for a very very good cause, so I'm very pleased with the day's event.
Sadly, this is all I have to show for my day... courtesy of Eve. (If not, I wouldn't have any proof that I was there at all. Hah.)




The dinner:
My first homecooked dinner! I did the steak all by myself, and it was only slightly burnt! (SMUG)
Had help with the mash and vegs, but overall I am very very pleased with the results.
I shall take a moment to behave like Britney Spears "OH MY GOD!!! I CAN COOK!!! I CAN COOK!!!" (Original: "OMG! I'M A FAT PIG! I'M A FAT PIG!")



The dog:
I have an extremely lazy dog. I'm afraid that I'm going to have to put her in the zoo if she doesn't get more exercise.
Bares no resemblance to the owner whatsoever. Not cool!

Parking Mania

Friday night, dinner appointment at Tanjong Pagar with the gang.
Knowing that parking would be crazy, we went really early to snag us a parking lot.
But lucky, lucky us! We found a car moving off the moment we went into the carpark, but as the driver needed to drive off, we moved further in front to allow him space.
While we were busy being courteous, an extremely unreasonable middle-aged man on the OTHER side of the carpark made a dash for our lot.
Extremely pissed off, we went down to reason out this disgusting, self-righteous little oh-i'm-older-therefore-i'm-always-right man. Or should I say coward because he did NOT act like a man in any way.
He insisted that he arrived first therefore the lot is his, even though he was waiting on the other end of the carpark, and had the cheek to ask us 'are you sure any of you have a license?'
I backed out of the argument eventually because I was really really mad, and was on the verge of turning into a monster and bit his head off.
Maybe I should have...
He eventually drove off, wagging his finger at us, saying 'You youngsters should really learn to respect people.'
I think respect needs to be earned, not demanded. After such an ungraceful act, I think the lamp post beside the parking lot deserved more respect than him.
I SHOULD HAVE TURNED INTO TRANSFORMER AND SMASHED HIS CAR!!!

Its freaking amazing and I lurvvvvvvvvvve it.
Though it gets tiring after awhile, trying to keep up with 'who bit me as a vampire/werewolf/what-nots'.
And trying to keep track of who has given me a beer/hug/spank.
I spend all my time trying to return all the 'favours'... Its seriously not doing me good with my early morning regime. :|
My favourite now: Pets - where you adopt a rabbit, fight monsters and gain level.
I attained level 11 within 2 days! *smug*
I actually have to tear myself away from my laptop to go to sleep.

Peifen recently adopted 2 guinea pigs at work.

End of the crazy hell weeks

2 words to summarise my past 2-3 weeks.
Work.
School.
It had been hell of a crazy bitch.
The school part (the part I hate) is ending. (YESSSSSSSSSS!)
I was so tired earlier on I mistook body shower gel for shampoo and smeared it all over my head. :|

Movies! Movies!

Had the luxury catching 3 movies in 2 consecutive weeks. Hurhur.
I should really make it a point to watch at least 1 movie once a week.



Hilarious! This is a fantastic movie that you should not watch sitting down. I had to fight the urge of wanting to dance along with the fabulous music the entire time. Finally, when the show ended, my friend danced out of the theatre, and we almost had to tie him down to refrain him from doing so in the public... where there are real human beings.

Of course, the girls gushed over Zac Efron and the guys, Amanda Bynes.

Most memorable scene: Duet between Christopher Walken and John Travolta (You're Timeless to Me). The thought of 2 burly grown men subtly flirting sent goosebumps down my spine, BUT they are so cute that you'd forgive them anytime. Though I was really glad they didn't exchange anything else than a dance...



Never thought I'd ever be saying this, but damn the rat made me hungry! Heart-warming, and I'd really like to keep him as a pet... A companion AND a chef... WHERE TO FIND SUCH A GOOD DEAL?!?!

Most memorable scene: Any scene that involved food...



Jason Bourne had me sitting on the edge of my seat the whole time. Exciting lah!

Most memorable scene: The last scene when Jason 'rised from the dead'. It was kinda a 'WTH..' situation. Or a 'Bruce Willis - Die Hard series' situation, a.k.a the hero never dies... Less-than-perfect ending, but still good. At least I was impressed.

艾薇 Vs Ivy

Ok ok, it's been 1 month since I've started in 93.3, and 2 weeks since the morning shift kicked in.
Am still taking some of time trying to get used to it, and the feedbacks had been mixed.
Thank you for your comments and feedbacks, I will take the constructive ones and work even harder on it.

Recently, there had been alot of questions on the use of my English name.
I actually don't know how it got started, but everybody called me Ivy, and I guess I just went along with it.
Some like Ivy, cos its easy to SMS/read. Some prefer 艾薇, cos it goes better in a chinese station.
I'm ok with both, cos essentially it is just a direct translation from each other.
I'm kinda torn between the 2.
And so, the battle of 艾薇 Vs Ivy begins.



Well well, that's not really Ivy nor 艾薇, but as long as I can get the point across... :)

Life, is not a bed of roses

Right now I feel that I'm waddling in a pool of mud.
And I might be drowning.
I need to find a way to survive, or at least float long enough so that I won't sink.

5am in the morning

Morning shift has started...
And I had been waking up at 5am in the morning.
My god I had not seen the 5am skyline (not much to speak of from my window) since secondary school.
I would blur-rily wash up, bur-rily leave the house, and blur-rily drive to work.
Then I would stumble into the studio, blur-rily read the papers.
7am: Show starts!
Adrenaline rush til 10am, and I would reach my brain cells quota by then. :|
I would have to make alot of adjustments to my current lifestyle.
That means no more late night mahjong sessions!!! (GASP)
Now that's going to be tough one.
Or I can start organising sessions in the afternoon. :D
Anyone else free after lunch time?

Techno Cock!!!

After a long looong loooooooong wait, I finally managed to catch 881 this week! (Been on the night shift lah...)
The movie awed me with its simplicity.
No fluff, no fancy sets, no unrealistic storylilnes in a picture perfect world. Just characters you might meet in your everyday life, leading the life of a true blue Singaporean, playing out a story that could happen to you, to me, to anyone.
Dazzling costumes so stunning you wouldn't take your eyes off the screen for 1 second.
881 connected to me like no other films ever did, dialogues that you actually hear in your daily routine. Just the other day, R said 'There are actual lines that my mom uses on me!!!' E.g. (In Hokkien: 太阳都晒到屁股了，还不要起来？！’)
It had me in stitches first half of the show, and tears in the second.
Completed with artistic camera works and brilliant art directions.
What else can you ask for in a movie?

Of course, my favourite character in the show, the Techno Cock!

Age Attack!

It took my 24th birthday to make me realise that I'm aging, that my metabolism rate ain't as active as before, that over-eating DOES matter now.
My youth is slipping thru my fingers, and all I can do is watch my fingers swell.
I am also suffering from a disease 'Sunday Bloat'. Stating the obvious, the symptoms are excessive bloating and swelling of body parts such as face, tummy, and on days that its just not your day, it'll probably be your whole body. (I blame this on my mother's wonderful cooking on every Sunday.)
I haven't had a good day for the past 2 months.
So now its goodbye to slim town and hello to flabby ville.

Octopus Dream

Waaaa... I co-hosted with superstar Mary today! Super honoured can! (She blushed when I called her that :P)
It was a whole lot of fun! Spices up your evening, bringing a brand new meaning to 'Nightlife'.
But getting used to the control panel is a whole new story. I wish I have 8 hands (like an octopus) and 2 heads (alien octopus) to handle it. I'd pray really really hard in hopes that god would bless me with the extra limbs. Fingers crossed.

Especially during book signing event, she was practically shining, like a star.
As new as I am, I was really excited for her too!

But of course, it will not be announced til... well whenever it is announced.

Reflection

A recent conversation with a close friend had brought up the issue of my sensitivity towards people around me, or rather, the lack of it.

A: You have the sensitivity of a blunt axe!

Thinking that it was one of those routined-meaningless-insult-hurling activity, I took no mercy in lashing back (all in good fun) at A without a second thought, completely unaware that it was an obvious hint that I had unknowingly crossed the boundaries with my insensitivity.

Which proved A's point absolute accuracy.

I apologise. I will work really hard at attaining a decent sensitivity awareness level.

Which could be hard for a person who's rarely in touch with her emotions.

But I will work at it.

My holiday is over!!!
Time flew past, and all i did was blink my eye! Once! (Ok, maybe for 3 weeks.. but still!!!)
I had cultivated a habit of weeknight mahjong sessions and weekly Wed late night gatherings... outside Zouk... (Mambo lah...)
As excited as I am starting the new job, I'm still lamenting over how quickly... quietly... my holiday slipped away...
I'm still in shock. :|

On the brighter side, I found someone at work with similar interests as I do! The mambos and the mahjongs... *WOOHOO!!

How is it possible to miss someone whom you kept a distance from so that when they are gone, you wouldn't miss them?

Gift of sight

The gift of sight is amazing.
The ability to wake up in the mornings, and able to see everything clearly immediately, not having to search around for your glasses, is indescribable.
As a patient who just went through a surgery on Tuesday should be resting at home.
Of course, being the restless 'itchy backside' person I am, I was unable to sit still at home.
After the training with WeiBin in the morning, I went out and had a whole day of fun which landed me in Zouk.
And it was gooooooooooooood! MAMBO ROCKS! (Even though I don't know any of the moves, I know all the songs!)
I just hope my dearest precious eyes would forgive my playfulness, and not act up...

I'm going to start taking shorter showers, no more baths, and swtiching off unused electrical appliances.
I'm going to buy a shopping bag. I'll name it Fatty and start bringing Fatty to the supermarkets (almost never) and 7-11s (almost everyday). Fatty and I will be buddies, wherever I go, it goes.
Also, a proper water bottle (named Bubbly), energy saving light bulbs (not worth naming), maybe some motion-sensored lighting, and lastly, maybe, if I win the lottery, a bicycle (Named Monster Truck!).

To Do List:
1. Reduce
2. Reuse
3. Recycle

Its a small role to play, a tiny contribution to a greater plan. Afterall, we can't all migrate to stay with the Autobots if we really lose our planet earth, can we?

Thursday Blues

I am suffering from Thursday Blue.
Because I have an exam tomorrow. 'Exam Blues' would be more apt.
It sucks.
I hate studying. Of all the things I hate in my life, exams and studying rank right at the top.
I never understood the purpose of examinations. Force-feeding you information that you almost never use when you step into the cruel harsh working life. Isn't it a complete waste of time???
I wish I can do this the old-fashioned way. Burn my notes and drink them up. I'd like them in vodka, so it helps my sleeping.
But I don't drink, and I can't hold my liquor. At all. Don't think going for an exam with a hangover is encouraged as well.
So, good luck to me, and spare me all your luck if you can, cos I'm gonna need a whole load of that.

The return of the 4-Eyed Monster

I am bursting with excitment, because FINALLY, after 17 torturous years of being short-sighted, having to fit a foreign object on my face daily in exchange for the gift of sight, I AM GOING TO HAVE MY LASIK SURGERY DONE!!!
Uh huh, that's right, no more glasses! I cannot find the words to begin telling u how excited I am. :D :D :D :D
I'm almost in trance.

Now, for the part I didn't know I had to go through before my doc's appointment and surgery, I am not able to wear my contact lenses. For at least the next 3 weeks!!! I grew up wearing spectacles, and I hate them. I'd flip when people called me 四眼田鸡, or telling me how blind I look with my glasses on. I am re-living the childhood nightmare now, and seriously, it decreased my self-confidence by half! And the fact that they give me a pounding headache doesn't help.

It's a price i have to pay for perfect eyesight for the rest of my life. And the first thing I'd do after I regain my eyesight, is throw my pairs of glasses, contact lenses and all the misc solutions from the highest level in my building.

Well, legally, of course. Down the rubbish chute. Cannot 高楼抛物 one, I know.

I can't sleep...

Because I'm worried sick.
Because I'm extremely excited.
Because I'm having my first official training at 933 tomorrow.
Because I have such high expectations of myself, and I am freaked out with the idea that I might let myself, and everyone who believed in me down.
Now I need a little ego booster... Or a sleeping pill might be easier to get hold of...

And man! Those are really good seats!
And Christina Aguilera is HOT HOT HOT! Sizzling HOT.
Although we had pretty good seatings, the star was still the size of an ant to me. (But hey its free, so lets not brood over it. I was very contented looking at a hot hot hot ant.)
So instead of taking dozens of pictures that will portray her as a little white dot that does not do her any justice, so we took pictures of ouselves.
Well, at least our faces can be seen...
But my friend is too lazy to email me the pictures, so once again, its to be continued........

Life Story

I've always believed that life is like a train ride.
People from all walks of life board the train, and you never know when they'll alight.
Some care enough to stay, while others take you for a ride.
And sometimes you fall into a crappy mood and order others to get outta your cabin.
Then there are times when you meet the irritating ones who board and alight as and when they please that you just want to scream at them "YOU THINK TRAIN RIDE NO NEED TO PAY ONE AH??!!"
But its the unpredictability that makes the ride thrilling and exhilarating.
I just hope that I won't arrive at the final destination (Alone Town, or worse, Singles Bay) a lonely, desperate, saggy, old woman, and still alone.
Please God, wherever you are, please bless me with at least 3 other passengers so that I can play mahjong til the day I die.

生日总结篇!

抱歉，抱歉！最近忙了起来，好不容易解决了一连串琐碎的事，终于有时间好好的坐下来，喘口气，喝杯茶，回回电邮，当然，不忘了写写这迟来的生日总结篇！

首先，我的生日前夕，好友 Sheryl 把我‘骗’到了圣陶沙，来个脚底按摩！不过，这并非普通的脚底按摩，而是 Fish Reflexology！在按摩前，先将双脚浸在一旁，养了上百只小鱼的小池塘里。这些小鱼儿会一涌而上，把脚底板的死细胞全吃掉！感觉怪怪的，痒痒的，又非常的新鲜！超过瘾的！





按摩完毕，Sheryl 便急急忙忙的把我带回家。我也不以为然的跟着她，结果，一到家，早已埋伏好的一群好友马上跳出来，大声的嚷着“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!"! 完全没有预料到，非常的惊喜！缤纷彩色的气球，自然而然的成为了当晚拍照的王牌道具！











生日当天，我又被‘骗’到了另一位朋友家，说是要打麻将，到了以后，发现竟然是另一个惊喜烧烤派对！布满了气球，又抢尽了风头！结果还被砸了满脸的蛋糕！





朋友都好有心，让我感动不宜。尤其是幕后主脑，Sheryl, 花了好多心思。觉得自己很幸运，能交到这么棒的朋友。

星期一回到公司上班，我最要好的同事递上了两份生日礼物！知道她是跋山涉水才买到我的礼物，心中的感动无从说起。

星期三跟明星DJ争霸塞的参赛者聚在一起，到爱琴海听友斌超赞的歌声。结果，他们竟悄悄的买了蛋糕，为我送上生日祝福！真的是惊讶又感动！谢谢你们！






最后，Evonne 和明辉也跟我们会面，送上细心制作的礼物！还有好多其他YES933 听众的祝福，真的，真的好开心。很巧的，我们都是六月宝宝，所以也送上一份小心意，希望你们会喜欢。：）

The Final Countdown

After weeks of whining and complaining, I am finally going to end my journey in my current company. Its only been 8 months since I joined, but it feels like I've been here forever. Maybe its because I spend so much time in the office everyday (average 10-12 hrs work day), maybe its because we work so hard. Strangely, a few weeks ago I couldn't wait to leave this place, now that I have 3 hours left, I don't really want to go anymore.

I would miss everything about everyone here. I've experienced kindness, friendship here and its been a wonderful journey.

Before I embark on a brand new adventure, I want to take a moment and jot down this memory, for keepsake.

24岁惊喜的开始

一晃眼，我步入了24岁！
一位多年的好友为我亲手制作了一本相簿，以照片记载我们4，5年来的回忆。
我感动的翻着一面面的回忆，感触良多。突然，一句话浮现在我脑海里。“哇！岁月真的不留人！”
跟两年前的我比起来，苍老了许多。。。:( 老妈也不时提醒着我，“你的脸部肌肉松掉了！” :(
现在开始要加把劲，努力运动，不然就会成为 YES933最肥胖的DJ了。。。

当然，今年的生日过得非常的愉快。两组不同的朋友聚在一起，为我举行了两个惊喜的派对！让我受宠若惊。。。
等我收集了所有的照片，马上跟你们分享！

明星DJ争霸塞在上个星期六画上句点后，生活恢复了正常。闹钟每天早晨准时在 7点45分 响起，赖床到8点15分才心不甘，情不愿的爬出温暖的被窝，准备上班。唯一庆幸的，是老板最近对我的态度大有改变。嘿嘿。。。

上个月为了赶比赛的种种活动和’功课‘，忙得不可开交，喘不过气来。比赛结束后，原本以为可好好的休息，享受悠闲的生活，没想到，却开始怀念为了准备比赛而忙碌但过得充实的日子，

怀念为了赶Tank的校园演唱会在Taxi上换衣服。
怀念为了参与校园点歌活动从工作开溜。
怀念制作podcast连夜赶工到凌晨5点钟才睡。
更怀念跟其他参赛者’共患难‘的日子。我们不断的鼓励对方，为大家加油，一起站在同一阵线上朝共同的梦想努力的前进。

当然，我也对将来充满了憧憬，同时对未知的将来有点担心，也有些些的害怕 ，战战兢兢的期待那难以预测的将来来临。

比赛的结束，新的开始

Y.E.S 93.3 明星DJ争霸赛经过了一个多月以来的训练和宣传活动，终于在昨天告一个段落，圆满的结束了。
现在的心情，非常的高兴，开心。对未来要走的路，是抱着无比的期待和兴奋。难以置信，梦想和理想终于要实现了！
在这里，也有很多人要感谢，因为，能够得胜是大家的功劳。
非常感激评判慧诗，杰奇，和艺峰给于我这个机会圆梦。我会继续的努力的！

一直在我身边支持我的朋友，谢谢你们，到场支持，还花费心思做 T-shirt 和海报，你们对我的用心，我都感受到了。尤其是Sheryl, 从初赛到现在就一直鼓励着我，不断的激励我向前进，感激不尽。。。
当然不能忘记，从比赛开始就非常支持我们十位参赛者的朋友，谢谢你们！Evonne, 感谢你对我们的用心，费时费力的为我们煮凉茶，还在手不幸受伤后为我折纸鹤。明辉也不忘为我们打点食物，让我们在赶活动时有鸡饭吃！非常感动的呢！
最后不忘我的家人，尤其是我美丽的妈妈，对您的感激，不是一字一句可以说明的。谢谢您。

接下来，我还有很长的一端路要走，迫不及待的希望可以马上启程！我会不断的努力，更上一层楼！：）
